Caldwell, J E & Co Antique Sterling Fish Server, Philadelphia, PA, c. 1883

Beautifully engraved with an aquatic scene featuring a koi, this wonderful server was sold by J. E. Caldwell in Philadelphia. The whole scene is unusual with exotic, Japanese inspired foliage and a spider web with an ocean background. The engraving is quite stunning. The handle is executed with beautiful flowers in bloom against a hammered textured background. The back of the handle is engraved 'FH 1883'.

This great server is marked 'JE CALDWELL & CO/ STERLING.' It measures 11.75 inches long, weighs 3.60 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
