George Sharp Antique Silver Figural Punch Ladle, Philadelphia, PA, c. 1866

1 item left

Multiple parts and castings were used to create this exceptional punch ladle. The top of the handle features a beautiful cast, robed goddess or maiden. Lines of fine beading travel down the length of the curved handle, which joins three shaped wires that attach to the wonderful, gilt bowl.

The pouring spout is to the left, typical of the form, and on the right side is another applied casting. This figure is of a winged female creature. Engraved on the outside front of the bowl is a lovely cursive 'WLW' monogram.

Provenance:
Private Collection.

This rare ladle is marked on the bowl with George Sharp's trademark and 'PATENT 1866.' It measures 13.25 inches long, weighs 6.20 troy ounces, and is in excellent antique condition with some wear to the gilding on the outside of the bowl.
