Frank Smith Antique Sterling Silver Grapevine Punch Ladle, Gardner, MA, c. 1900

1 item left

This impressive ladle features a long, curved handle with a bold display of an applied grapevine with wonderful 3-dimensional bunches of grapes and leaves. A cute accent of a grape leaf on a curvy vine is applied where the handle meets the double-spouted bowl. The reverse of the handle is engraved with an 'LGH' monogram.

The Frank Smith Silver Co., of Gardner, MA, was known for their high-quality silver. Several of their best silversmiths became employees at the leading arts & crafts firms of Arthur Stone of Gardner and George Gebelein of Boston. (Arthur Stone was the shop superintendent at Frank Smith before opening his own shop, and Stone's 'right-hand man,' Herbert Taylor, also came from the Frank Smith shop.)

This wonderful ladle is marked with Frank Smith's trademark and 'STERLING.' It measures 13.75 inches long, weighs 7.55 troy ounces, and is in excellent antique condition.
