How apropos to have a fish serving platter in the shape of a fish!
This remarkable and rare Gorham platter is beautifully designed and executed with an attached ring base underneath which allows it to rest firmly. The dish has raised sides with the interior formed as a fish with stunning details of a face, fins and scales. The mouth of the fish is formed with a small pouring spout and the eye, to give contrast to the rest of the piece, was never gilded.
This rare serving dish is marked underneath with Gorham's trademark with the 1884 date mark and 'STERLING/ 2045'. It measures 17.5 inches long by 10 inches deep by 2.75 inches high, weighs 26.85 troy ounces and is in excellent condition retaining its original gilding.
