Whiting Antique Sterling Silver Bright-cut 'Lily Enraved' Soup Ladle, New York City, NY, c. 1870s

This elegant ladle is with stunning bright-cut engraving on the curved upper handle. A sprig of lily-of-the-valley arches around the top above an engraved 'D' initial. The base of the handle and adjoining sections of the fluted bowl are similarly engraved. The bowl also has a soft, matte finish and is very lightly gilt.

This lovely, large ladle is marked with Whiting's trademark and 'STERLING.' It measures 13 inches long, weighs 5.30 troy ounces, and is in excellent antique condition.
