Tiffany & Co. Antique Sterling Aesthetic Movement Spot Hammered Cup and Saucer, NYC, c. 1880

Tiffany & Co made exceptional aesthetic movement silver in very creative designs as seen in this lovely child's cup with under tray. Irregular hammer marks create a honeycomb effect which makes the exterior sparkle. A formed 'C'-shaped handle is applied and also hammered. The front of the cup is decorated with the name 'Elsie'. Executed using the acid etching technique, the name is quite elaborate and artistic.

This exceptional cup and under plate is marked underneath 'TIFFANY & Co/ M/ STERLING-SILVER/ 5622/ 2028' (1879 pattern date). The plate measures just shy of 6 inches in diameter. The cup measures 4.25 inches across the handle by just shy of 2.25 inches high. The set weighs 11.10 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
