Tiffany & Co Antique Sterling Silver Wine Coaster, NYC, NY, c. 1880

This elaborate coaster (which also makes a stunning candy dish, etc.) is beautifully designed and striking. Lovely floral repoussé against a stippled background covers the bulbous body. The undulating upper rim consists of a 3-line design forming a wavy motif. The splayed base is covered with classical leaves. The floral-form interior has six petal-like sections emanating from a central circle engraved with a script 'JC' monogram.

This wonderful coaster is marked underneath 'TIFFANY & Co/ 4379 M 100/ STERLING-SILVER.' It measures 5.75 inches in diameter by 2 inches high, weighs 8.15 troy ounces, and is in excellent antique condition.
