Tiffany & Co. Pair of Antique Sterling Silver Mixed Metal Salts, New York City, c. 1880

Notify me when similar is available:

These salts are lovely small examples of Tiffany sterling and other metals. Three applied legs splay outwards and raise the bulbous round bodies.

Undulating rims are applied with a thick band conform to the shaped edge. One sees above an applied vine hanging over the edge with a single strawberry executed in patinated copper.

Another scene has a vine with two tomatoes (?); one executed in patinated copper and the smaller one in brass. A beetle, on another side, is applied and executed in copper. The salts are similar but vary slightly due to them being hand-made.

These lovely salts are marked underneath 'TIFFANY & Co/ 5436/ M/ 471/ STERLING-SILVER/ AND/ OTHER-METALS/ 632'. They measure just shy of 3 inches in diameter by just over 1.5 inches high, weigh a combined 7.75 troy ounces and are in excellent antique condition. They are engraved later underneath in a block style 'EC'.
