Gorham Rare Antique Sterling Tete-a-tete Chocolate Pot, Providence, RI, 1889

Notify me when similar is available:

Chocolate pots are usually much bigger and we were initially baffled by this small-sized item until we did our research and found that it is indeed a Tete-a-tete chocolate pot, most likely for sharing a pot with a dear friend with a couple of demitasse cups.

This lovely pot has a swirled body with beautiful, repousséd and chased scenes of flowers blossoming amongst their stems and leaves. The hinged, domed cover is also nicely decorated and has a leaf thumb-piece. An attached shaped handle is covered with its apparently original rattan.

This very rare pot is marked with Gorham's trademark along with 'STERLING/ 3445' along with the date mark for 1889. It measures 5.75 inches high, weighs 7.30 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed, and is in excellent antique condition.
