Gorham Antique Sterling Silver Jewelry Box, Providence, RI, 1895

This pretty, rectangular box is covered with robust repoussé ornamentation. The sides of the body are covered in densely populated daisies bordered by rows of fine beading. The hinged cover is a display of various flowers surrounding a cartouche engraved with an 'AWK' monogram.

The interior has a sterling divider running lengthwise which is removable. 

This lovely container is marked along the edge with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING/ 920' and with the crescent moon symbol for 1895. The interior divider is also stamped 'STERLING'. The box measures 5.25 inches long by 3 inches deep by 1.5 inches high and weighs 6.85 troy ounces. It is in wonderful antique condition with even wear to the original gilding on the interior.
