Tiffany & Co./ Bailey, Banks and Biddle Antique Sterling Silver Horn, Philadelphia, PA, c. 1900

This intriguing item is a small horn with a hollow interior. It is decorated with stunning floral and flowing foliate engraving and is monogrammed 'CRB'. While it has been speculated that these rare items were given as prizes or tokens of esteem for hunt/ jockey events, they were used as extinguishers to blow out the flame under the kettle to a tea service. This rare horn is marked with Bailey, Banks & Biddle trademark and STERLING/ 482'. It is also marked 'MADE FOR TIFFANY & CO' who were the retailer of the horn. It measures 12.75 inches long, weighs 1.15 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition.
