George Shiebler created some extraordinary designs, and this sardine server is no exception. The wavy handle is beautifully executed with a striated and textured surface consisting of three overlapping blades of marsh grass. The end of the central leaf is folded forward onto itself.

Made of three sardines, the tines are stunning. These fish are wonderfully whimsical and display lovely details. Both sides are gilt, and the backs have a matte finish.

This magnificent and rare server is marked with Shiebler's winged 'S' trademark, 'STERLING/ 2851.' It measures 6 inches long, weighs 2.35 troy ounces, and is in exceptional antique condition.
