Edward Lownes Antique Coin Silver Cann, Philadelphia, PA, 1816-34

1 item left

This wonderful reeded cann is an early example of American classical silver from Philadelphia. A series of beautiful horizontal lines decorate the cylindrical body. Engraved on the front is 'H.L. South/ From her Father.' It's amusing that in the 1820s, this form, typically used for drinking ale, was gifted from a father to his daughter.

This cann has been fully tested and received wonderful reviews (from Spencer).

This lovely cann is marked 'E. Lownes' within a rectangular punch and also 'E.L.' within a serrated punch. It measures 4.5 inches across the handle by 4.5 inches high, weighs 14.40 troy ounces, and is in very good/ excellent antique condition.
