Bailey & Co. Antique 'King' Pattern Coin Silver Ice Tongs, Philadelphia, PA, c. 1865

Notify me when similar is available:

Early ice tongs are quite uncommon, and this form is very rare. The outside lengths of the handles are designed with the 'King' pattern which was very popular and classic at the time.

One of the ends is a bird's claw with lovely details on both sides. Opposite this claw is a shallow bowl with six rectangular piercings around its edge. Outside is executed as an impressive foliate display with trellis background .

This magnificent server is marked 'BAILEY & Co' along with a star. The tongs measure 9 inches long, weigh 5.05 troy ounces, have never been monogrammed and are in excellent antique condition.
