Whiting Twist Design Antique Sterling Silver Berry Spoon, NYC, c. 1880

Although this spoon can meet a lot of serving needs, the acid-etched foliate design with fruit in the bowl is a giveaway that this was originally intended to serve fruit or berries. The handle has a twist design that reverses direction as it gets larger.

This lovely antique serving spoon is marked with Whiting's trademark along with 'STERLING/ 23/ 8'. It measures 9 inches long, weighs 2.55 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
