Tiffany and Co. Sterling Snowflake Design Cocktail Set, NYC, NY, c. 1956

This magnificent set consists of a pitcher, a stirrer, 6 cups, and a tray. We have never seen a complete set in this rare mid-century design and it is stunning. A large, applied snowflake decorates the join of the handle to the body of the gracefully proportioned pitcher with a built-in strainer at the spout. The original wooden handle fits into a sleeve and is secured with 2 silver pins for added stability.

The cups are very elegant with their plain surfaces and the snowflakes surrounding the stem where it meets the slightly domed bases. A large, dramatic matching snowflake is engraved on the tray. Completing the set is the ever-important stirrer with an applied, cast snowflake at the top.

This rare set is marked underneath all the pieces 'TIFFANY & CO/ MAKERS/ STERLING SILVER/ 23413A/ L.' The stirrer is marked with the earlier 'M' mark which means this set was most likely made about the time the company changed presidents from Louis deBebian Moore to William T. Lust in 1956. The pitcher measures 8.5 inches high. The cups are just shy of 3.75 inches tall and the tray measure 12.5 inches in diameter. It weighs a total of 77.40 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition.
