Samuel Kirk Pair of Antique Silver Vases, Baltimore, MD, 1830-46
This is a rare pair of Kirk silver vases. The wavy rims have applied silver borders above chased hanging leaves. The cup-shaped bodies with applied scroll handles are repoussed with a row of flowers and leaves. One side is engraved with a 'NSL' monogram. The wide pedestal base is beautifully repoussed with flowers and leaves against a stippled background.
These stunning vases are marked around the outer foot 'SAMl KIRK/ S.K./ 11oz. They measure 7.75 inches wide across the handles by 7.5 inches tall, weigh a combined 33.80 troy ounces and are in excellent antique condition.
