Whiting Floral Art Nouveau Sterling Centerpiece Bowl, c. 1900
This floral centerpiece bowl is truly wonderful. Large, it measures 18.5 inches long by 14.5 inches wide, this art nouveau work makes a statement and has real presence. The hibiscus flowers flow organically with the interspersed scrolls which accentuate the undulating border. Cast and hand chased, the bowl is supported by four scrolling cast and applied feet (see detail). It is inscribed in the center, "HAB from LGB 1875 - 1900" - almost certainly a twenty-fifth wedding anniversary present. The bowl is in excellent condition and weighs approximately 48 troy ounces.
