This sterling letter opener by Shiebler is a lovely design with a very art nouveau handle contrasting with the plain and elegant blade. The handle depicts flowing intertwined leaves. The cross section has a cast and applied rare design of a monkey sitting in a lotus position. It is marked on the back with the winged 'S' mark, sterling and the number 282R. This wonderful letter opener measures just under 11 inches in length and is in great condition with the exception of a mono having been removed (very good job) from the back of the handle.
