Arthur Stone Associates Serving Spoon, Crafted by Charles Brown, c. 1940
A fine serving spoon in a pointed antique pattern, this spoon was hand wrought by Charles Brown, one of the finest flatware makers of the arts and crafts period. Brown
worked for Arthur Stone and continued to work at the shop after it was sold to Henry Heywood in 1937 and became known as 'Stone Associates' – the period when this server
was made. Brown was one of only seven silversmiths to be honored as a 'Medalist', the highest award bestowed by the Society of Arts & Crafts in Boston.
This elegant spoon is marked on the back with the Stone Associates trade mark, 'STERLING' and the sideways 'B' that denotes it was made by Brown. It measures 9.35
inches long and has never been monogrammed. It weighs a nice 5.45 troy ounces and is in very good condition.
