Gorham Sterling Silver & Enamel Serving Condiment Spoon, c. 1890
Gorham produced some exquisite enamel work and this is certainly an unusual item. Totally gilded over a matte finish, this serving spoon with a scalloped bowl has various color
enamel inlays decorating the handle. The back has an engraved 'B' initial at the top. The enamel work on this piece is particularly fine; in fact, Gorham hired Russian
artisans during the late 1880's and early 1890 to do their fine enameling.
This lovely sterling silver serving spoon is marked with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING/ 370'. This 370 number is also on the butter pick with the exact same enameling. This spoon measures 6 inches long, weighs 0.85
troy ounces and is in very good antique condition with light wear to the gilding.
