These wonderful tongs were made by George Sharp of Philadelphia.  In a pattern with a renaissance inspired strap work cartouche with floral embellishments, these graceful tongs feature beautiful hand engraved bright cut work along the hand pierced blades and connecting support.

This lovely server is stamped on the back with George Sharp’s lion/s/lion mark that he used for sterling silver and ‘patent’.  The silk lined box is marked on the interior ‘Shreve, Crump & Low, 226 Washington St., Boston’.  They measures 11.75 inches long, weigh 7.05 troy ounces, have never been monogrammed and are in excellent condition.
