Haddock, Lincoln & Foss Sterling Ice Cream Set, c. 1860's.

Haddock, Lincoln & Foss are listed in Boston directories as working from 1850-1865.  This is a beautiful ice cream service comprising 12 spoons and a larger oval ice cream server which is flat with scooped sides.  All the pieces are designed with a lovely twist handle and a flat end with lovely bright-cutting around the edge.

There is engraved decoration of a blooming acanthus flower which is repeated in all of the bowls. The bowls are gilded and the backs of all the pieces are stamped 'Haddock, Lincoln & Foss' and with the sterling designation of '925'.

This set comes in its original black leather presentation box which has a fitted interior lined with blue felt and silk, also stamped Haddock, Lincoln & Foss in gold-leaf (fair condition).  The length of the server is 9.5 inches long and the spoons measure just over 5.5 inches long.  The great thing about finding silver in its original box is that it is usually in great condition, as is this set (except for wear to the gilding on the server).
