With a bold lobed hexagonal design, accentuated with bold planishing marks, these wonderful bowls are fine example of Boston Arts & Crafts silver. A spreading ring foot underneath and a drawn and applied thread around the rim enhances these beautifully designed and executed pieces. We have two of these bowls that we are selling individually.
James Woolley was one of the finest silversmiths working in Boston during the Arts & Crafts period. Ultimately, he was awarded the distinction of being a Medalist at the Society for Arts & Crafts in Boston, one of only seven silversmiths to receive such high honor.
This bulbous bowl measures 5 inches wide by 2 inches high, weighs 6.45 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition made with inconsistencies in the scale.
