French Silver (950) Coffee/Tea Set c. 1900

This 4 piece French silver tea set dates to the turn of the century and is highly ornate.  It is fully marked with the 950 silver standard mark and underneath, the maker Folliot.  The spouts, legs, handles and stippled banding are decorated with neo-classsical motifs including floral garlands.  The cast finials consist of bouquets of flowers attached to eight leaves.  A dramatic leaf design also decorate the lower portion of the body and handle attachments. The high quality of the casting and repousse work can be seen in the detail of the sugar bowl on the right.

The coffee pot measures 10 inches high,  the teapot is 7.75 inches high, the covered sugar bowl is 7 inches high and the creamer is just over 6 inches high.  In total, the set weighs approximately 70 troy ounces.  This lovely set is in very good  condition with slight traces of scale and 2 minor pieces of the ivory insulators replaced.
