Gorham Sterling, Enameled and Gilt Coffee Spoons, c. 1890
These rare coffee spoons are exquisite examples of the enameler's art. Made by Gorham c. 1890, they were part of a limited output of very high-end enamel work done by immigrant craftsmen (many were Russian) at
the Providence works. The floral cloisonné design on the handle is done in tones of blue, violets and gold, accentuated by gilded silver surfaces. This set of 12 spoons is
in very good (only the slightest enamel imperfections) condition, measure 4.3 inches long and marked with French import marks indicating they were imported into France before 1893.
