Wood & Hughes 'Viola' Pattern Sterling Silver Serving Spoon, c. 1870's

This is a lovely sterling silver serving spoon by the New York company Wood & Hughes.  Classic elements are incorporated into the handle.  These designs also are hand -engraved in the bowl which has a wonderful gilt matte finish.  The handle is monogrammed 'HHW' in a script style at the top.

This great sterling silver server is marked 'W&H/ STERLING'. It measures 9.25 inches long, weighs 2.6 troy ounces and is in excellent antique condition with slight wear to the gilding on the back of the bowl.
