Gorham ‘Versailles’ Pattern Sterling Fish Knives, c. 1910 – set of 12
These solid silver knives with sterling blades and flat handles are very rare. The plain, sword-shaped blades offset the very intricate pattern. French Regency inspired designs of finely detailed fern and swirling foliage encompass the handles surrounding a seated female figure in flowing gown holding a cornucopia in her lap. The reverse of the handle continues the design surrounding a catouche which is finely engraved with a ‘MMM’ monogram in a cursive foliate style.
These beautiful knives are marked on the back with Gorham’s trademark along with ‘STERLING’. They measure 8 inches long, weigh a combined 28.55 troy ounces and are in very good crisp condition.
