This is a very unusual tea spoon in the rare ‘Homeric’ line of flatware by George Shiebler from New York.  The handle is magnificent with a classical portrait medallion of a warrior in 14k gold. The irregular shape of the handle with deeply incised line decoration and hammered surface adds to its uniqueness and beauty. The Homeric pattern with gold inlay was the most expensive and rare pattern made by Shiebler; the extra work and shaping of the handle is indicative of the quality and care of its design and fabrication. It is engraved on the back ‘Lucile’.
This lovely tea spoon is marked with Shiebler’s trademark ‘S’ with wings and ‘STERLING & 14k’. It measures 5.75 inches long, weighs 1.20 troy ounces and is in very good/ excellent antique condition.
