Jacob Wood Antique Coin Silver Soup Ladle retailed by Baldwin Gardner, New York, 1834-39
This large, wonderful ladle is a rare and early example of coin silver flatware. A graceful curve to the handle and oval bowl make this piece quite elegant. There has
been a monogram removed on the front, however it was very well done.
This antique coin silver ladle is marked with Jacob Wood's mark identified in Manufacturers' Marks on American Coin Silver by John McGrew, p. 63. It is also marked 'BG' for the New York silversmith/ retailer Baldwin
Gardner. It measures 12.5 inches long, weighs 3.55 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition.
