Gorham Aesthetic Movement Naturalistic Olive Spoon and Fork, c. 1880’s
Pictured in the 1886-90 Gorham catalogs and titled ‘Olive Spoon and Fork’ (see below), this lovely server is in the form of an olive branch with two leaves and an olive.
This wonderfully cast piece has a spear at one end and an elongated bowl decorated and pierced like an olive leaf. Entirely gilded and detailed with hand-engraved finishing, this exceptional server incorporates great aesthetic design and functionality.
This wonderful serving instrument is stamped with Gorham’s trademark, ‘STERLING’ and the model number ‘267’. It measures 11.75 inches long, weighs 2.05 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed and is in excellent condition.
