Gorham 'Grecian' Coin Silver Soup Ladle, c. 1861
One of Gorham's three 1861 patterns, 'Grecian' features a large acanthus bud at with leaves and scrolls on the side at the top of the handle. The classical top, along with the round stem and plain oval shaped bowl, make this ladle truly elegant. The back of the handle is engraved with an old English
style 'C' monogram and the date '1867.
This lovely ladle is stamped with Gorham's trademark, 'PAT 1861/ STERLING' and Palmer & Bachelder, the Boston retailer. It measures 12 inches long, weighs 4.85 troy ounces
and is in very good condition.
