Hotchkiss & Schreuder 'Medallion' Sterling Silver Tea Spoons, c. 1873, set of 12
This is a beautiful set of 'Medallion' pattern tea spoons by Hotchkiss & Schreuder from New York. The medallion is identified by Donald Soeffing in Silver Medallion Flatware as the young Dionysus. It is a profile of a young man wearing a
wreath of grapevine. The backs of the spoons are engraved with 'R' initials in an old English style.
This lovely set of medallion is marked on the back 'H&S/ STERLING' and by the St. Louis, Missouri retailer 'MERMOD JACCARD & CO'. They measure 6 inches long, weigh a combined 8.7 troy ounces and
are in excellent antique condition.
