Gorham Sterling Silver & Enamel Serving Spoon, c. 1890
Gorham produced some exquisite enamel work of which this serving spoon affirms. The aesthetic movement engraved design in the silver is enhanced by varying blue, purple and yellow enamel inlays. The elongated, wavy bowl is gilded with a matte finish
and then wonderfully bright-cut. The enamel work on this piece is particularly fine; in fact, Gorham hired Russian artisans during the late 1880's and early 1890 to do their fine enameling.
This lovely sterling silver serving spoon is marked with Gorham's trademark and 'STERLING/ 375'. It measures 8.5 inches long, weighs 2.05 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition
with a fleck to one of the yellow enamel dots.
