Tiffany ‘Wave Edge’ Sterling Gilt Dessert Service - 36 Pieces, c. 1884-91

Featuring pieces that have been out of production for many years, this beautiful dessert service is decorated with all-over gilding. Comprising 12 dessert forks (L: 6.5 inches), 12 ice cream spoons (L: 6.1 inches) and 12 all-silver hollow handled dessert knives with wave edge blades (L: 7.5 inches) this wonderful service would accommodate nearly every type of dessert. Because of their versatility, these large ice cream spoons were often substituted for standard dessert spoons by Tiffany in their dessert services.

Each piece marked ‘TIFFANY & CO.’ ‘STERLING’,  ‘PAT. 1884’, and the Tiffany ‘date’ mark ‘M’.  They are monogrammed ‘COOK’ (?) in a beautiful foliate script style. Together they weigh 46.2 troy ounces, they are in very good condition showing light, but even wear to the original gilding.
