A. E. Warner, Jr. ‘Mayflower’ Pattern Flatware Service – 48 pieces
This rare surviving service was made by Andrew Ellicott Warner Jr. from Baltimore, Maryland. ‘Mayflower’ is a fine old pattern first being made around 1850. During the 19th century, Samuel Kirk’s chief competitor was the Warner family, both father and son named Andrew Ellicott Warner. This service was made by the son after he took over the shop around 1870.
Each piece of this wonderful set has an engraved ‘MK’ monogram in a foliate cursive style and is stamped ‘WARNER/11’ on the back. These 48 pieces are in very good antique condition: a few of the spoons have (very) minor dings in the bowls and all pieces show little wear to the tines and tips of the bowls. They weigh a combined 78.75 troy ounces.
