Bigelow, Kennard & Co. Sterling Caster, Boston, c. 1890.

This beautiful sterling caster is decorated with a deep floral and foliate repousse design.  Of bulbous form, it has three cast and applied scroll feet.  The top sits in a wavy rim on the base, is also repousse decorated and features a ball and point finial. 

Bigelow, Kennard & Co. were the 'other' great jewelers in Boston.  This piece is marked 'Bigelow, Kennard & Co., MAKERS', a clear (and unusual) claim to creatorship.  It measures 6.75 inches high, weighs 6.55 troy ounces, is monogrammed 'ACS' in a cursive script, and is in great condition.
