These elegant candle sticks were made by the important Birmingham silversmith Matthew Boulton. A particularly
handsome pair, these sticks are designed with bold leaves to the shoulders, stems and bases and wonderful fluting and gadrooning to the pedestal, edge of the base and shoulders. Rosing, which one would
expect to see on candlesticks of this age, is uniform to the highlights.
Boulton was a highly important silversmith and entrepreneur from Birmingham, England. He was one of the first makers to use specialist designers for his products and objects from his shop are always of
very high quality.
These lovely antique Sheffield plate candle sticks are marked with Boulton's famous double sunburst mark around the bases. They measure 13.5 inches high and
are in very good antique condition with some rosing at the highlights, some minor dings and 1 matched bobeche.
