Wonderfully repoussed, this cup features the quality of work and construction associated with pieces made 50 years earlier. Luen-Wo was one of the best turn of the century makers, we've had a few pieces from this shop that rival Wang Hing's best pieces. This cup is decorated with six panels one decorated with a scene of an elder teaching a youth, one with a prunus tree in blossom, one with bamboo, one with a tree peony, one with an iris (more common on Japanese
silver, but we've had other Luen-Wo pieces with iris decoration), and a the last panel left for the inscription. Above and below these panels are dragons flying in clouds with the sun. A cast bamboo form handle is applied. The cup is inscribed "To Young Teddo from His Uncles Dec. 25th 1910." In excellent condition with nice 'crisp' decoration, it measures 3 inches high, 3 1/4 inches wide across the handle and weighs 4.35 troy ounces.
