Tiffany & Co. Sterling Silver Table Bell, 1856 - 70

This is a wonderful example of early Tiffany holloware.  The simplicity of the turned handle with ball finial complements the lovely dome decorated with a vertical chased design. The 2-part clapper is also uncommon. This wonderful bell is made of heavy gauge silver and has a beautiful tone.

This lovely bell is stamped along the inner lip 'TIFFANY & Co/ STERLING/ 344m9492'. According to Tiffany Silver by Charles Carpenter, the 344 pattern numbers was designed c. 1856 and the other marks were used until 1870. The bell measures 4.75 inches high by just under 2.5 inches round at the base. It weighs 4.15 troy ounces and is in very good antique condition.
