Whiting Sterling Aesthetic Movement Oyster Server, c. 1880

Oyster servers are uncommon and collected for their unique shape and function.  This particular one by Whiting has an irregularly twisted handle which flares out to a flat server on one end. The top end is also flattened with raised oyster and starfish decoration.

This rare server is marked on the back with Whiting's trademark, 'STERLING/ 31/ 2', measures 10.5 inches long, weighs 3.35 troy ounces and is in very good condition with light scratching to the blade and light wear to the highlights.
