Tiffany & Co 'Chrysanthemum' Pattern Sterling Silver Flatware Service for 12, New York, 20th c.
This is a lovely and complete service for 12 plus serving pieces in their original flatware chest.
On the fronts of the handles, the 'Chrysanthemum' pattern features a bold design of dense flowing chrysanthemum foliage and flowers. There is a reserve at the top which has never been monogrammed.
The reverse is actually more elaborate than the front with the design covering the back of the handle, working its way around the mark and, in the case of all the
pieces with bowls, continues onto the underside of the bowls as seen on the berry serving spoon above.
This gorgeous 139 piece service consists of the following place pieces:
"Chrysanthemum' was designed by Charles Grosjean and introduced in 1880. The popular flatware pattern was made in a full line.
This service comes in its original mahogany chest with blue felt-lined fitted interior. It has brass handles on the sides and a brass plaque on the top which, when reversed, can be engraved.
This stunning service is marked 'TIFFANY & CO/ STERLING/ PAT 1880/ M'. It weighs, without the hollow-handle knives and pie server, a total of 206.40 troy
ounces. The box and service are in excellent condition.
