Tiffany & Co 'Chrysanthemum' Pattern Sterling Silver Claw-foot Ice Tongs, 1891-1902
One of the more intriguing designs incorporated into a serving instrument is the claw-foot servers by Tiffany. The short handle is covered in dense flowing
chrysanthemum foliage and flowers and the blade is beautifully pierced with complimentary flowing chrysanthemum petals. Tiffany's 'Chrysanthemum' pattern
is one of the greatest flatware patterns of all time. This, along with the highly detailed and sculptural claw, makes this desirable piece quite rare.
Designed by Charles Grosjean and introduced in 1880, it features deep casting of chrysanthemum blossoms in sweeping chrysanthemum foliage. The popular flatware
pattern was made in a full line.
This wonderful server is marked 'TIFFANY & CO/ STERLING/ PAT 1880/ T'. It measures 5.5 inches long, weighs 3.25 troy ounces, has never been monogrammed and
is in excellent antique condition
