This is a beautiful 3-piece child's set made of heavy gauge silver and consists of a spoon, fork and hollow-handled knife. A high relief of thistle and leaf design
decorate the front of the fork and spoon and both sides of the knife handle.
The fork and spoon are further decorated with chased foliate design of leaves on the front and leaves and berries on the back. All pieces have an oval blank engraved 'FW'.
This rare and lovely set is marked 'HCH', an unidentified maker working in Canton during the mid 19th century ( see Chinese Export Silver by Alan James Marlowe, pp 32
-34). The fork, spoon and knife measure 6, 6.25 and 7.25 inches long respectively and are in excellent antique condition.
