All our silver chests are made in nearby Norton, Massachusetts by the Eureka division of Reed and Barton. These high quality chests include:
Hardwood Construction: Only the finest quality
hardwoods - oak, ash, poplar, cherry or mahogany - are used in the construction of Reed & Barton chests.
Moisture Control: All woods are kiln-dried to the average
atmospheric moisture content in the United States for greater stability, thereby eliminating warps and splits in the wood.
Unibody Construction: All chests are initially constructed
as six-sided boxes; lids and drawers are cut from this piece and kept together throughout the manufacturing process, yielding matched grains and even finishes.
Miter-and-tenon joints: Locked miter-and-tenon joints
are used on all corners for strength and durability.
Finished Edges: Solid wood tops, recessed bottoms on the
chests and drawers, and mitered corners eliminate end-grain, yielding a furniture quality appearance.
Tapered Drawers: Drawers are slightly tapered from front
to back to enable a more custom fit without binding.
Hand-Rubbed Finish: Each Reed & Barton chest is
carefully stained and hand-rubbed to a rich, lasting finish, revealing the natural luster of the distinctive hardwoods. Each piece truly becomes an individual work of art.
Anti-Tarnish Linings: Custom-fitted and carefully tailored
racking in each chest is designed to securely hold your flatware and help it remain attractive for years.
Made in U.S.A.: More than 65 individual operations, many
done completely by hand, are required to build each Reed & Barton chest. From beginning to end, all chests are handcrafted at Eureka Manufacturing, a division of Reed &
Barton, in Norton, Massachusetts.
Reed & Barton Quality: Each Reed & Barton chest is
crafted with painstaking care like a piece of fine furniture. The Reed & Barton standards of quality assure a lifetime of pleasurable use.
